For thirty days, I climbed to the same rooftop at 7:15 PM and took a photograph facing west. Same position. Same lens. Same frame.
Everything else changed.
The light was never the same twice. Not once in thirty days.
The idea
I wanted to prove something to myself: that you don't need to travel to find beauty. You don't need new locations or exotic subjects. You just need to pay attention to what's already there.
A rooftop in East London. Thirty evenings. One camera.
What I found
Day 1 was orange and calm. Day 7 was purple and dramatic. Day 15 was grey and moody — but the grey had twelve different shades in it. Day 23 was the most beautiful sunset I've ever photographed, and I almost didn't go up because I thought it would be overcast.
The lesson
Creativity isn't about finding extraordinary things. It's about seeing ordinary things with extraordinary attention.
The rooftop didn't change. I did.
